I... I... um... did y'all watch SNL last night? I just... sort of sat in stunned silence after Jake Gyllenhaal's opening monologue... watch it here:

...uhmm, Maya Rudolph's facial expressions make me laugh...
Maya Rudolph always kills with her facial expressions when she sings.
I mean... I laughed at it... I thought Jake was a good host even... I mean, I'm biased, obviously, and appreciate every single frame of film captured of Mr. Gyllenhaal be it of whatever quality... but this bit... friend some synapses in my brain... I don't know what to do with this.
It wasn't that it was bad, I thought it was funny, like I said, it just... maybe I should... I don't know. Seeing my #1 fantasy man in drag turning into Carol Channing there at the end... IT CONFUSED ME.
Make that "fried" some synapses...
I happen to catch the opening of the show last night and, while I defer to others (ahem) in terms of all that is Jake-alicious...
That opening monologue was just dreamy. He loves his gays. He's silly. He's got the best arms I think I've ever seen. He's musical enough and goofy enough to sell this. I daresay he might be the perfect straight man.
I don't necessarily think the sketch was too too funny but I did think it was a certain kind of genius. And I love Jake all the more for it...
It was very strange, but... I'm glad he didn't flop. And I'm glad that he obviously wasn't that self conscious and didn't ruin it.
But, yeah, very odd. Those arms though... fuckin' hell!
As I said on Low Res, I think I saw Jake's huge arms sing a sing from Dreamgirls last night, but I kind of passed out while it was happening, so...maybe not.
