I'm not a huge fan of Hustle & Flow - I liked it just fine but it didn't exactly blow my mind or anything - but definitely agree that director Craig Brewer is one to watch, and BSM's story attracts my interest much more than H&F did.

But golly I hope this pic gets Christina Ricci some respect. The boyfriend and I were talking about it the other night, and man she does not get the props she deserves. We both agree that she was at least just as good (the boyfriend says better) than Charlize Theron in Monster. I can conjure up tears right this second by just thinking about her performance in The Ice Storm. And she's a wicked genius in the Addams Family films and The Opposite of Sex. And then there's the greatness of the woefully underrated and underseen flick Pumpkin (genius!). Love her so much; really hope Black Snake Moan is the great film everyone at AICN keeps saying it is and that she gets some freakin' acknowledgment for once. Damn.
