Snake Plisskin In, Marv Notsomuch

///

I was disappointed when I read Mickey Rourke had stepped out of the role of the slasher in Tarantino's Slasher-half of Grind House. Because if there's one thing Mickey Rourke's disturbing face would be good at (besides fitting so comfortably under a pound of latex as Marv), it would be scaring the bejesus out of everyone.

Not sure how I feel about Kurt Russell taking over his place... I mean, Russell's usually just fine at what he does, but Rourke just brought so much obvious menace to the part without having even seen a second of it or known what the story really is, so it's hard to be excited about anyone else.

We shall see! Oh yes, we shall see.

From DH:

"Kurt Russell will replace Mickey Rourke as Stunt Man Mike in Quentin Tarantino's upcoming slasher film "Death Proof", Tarantino's half of the "Grindhouse" double feature due to open in 2007.

Tarantino inked the deal with Russell on Friday night and announced it Saturday at the San Diego Comic Con. Russell's character Tarantino revealed upfront to be the film's killer. He plans to start production on "Death Proof" in four weeks.

Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Marley Shelton, Tracie Thoms and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are all confirmed to be a part of Tarantino's segment."
