--- Director Zack Snyder, he of the suprisingly enjoyable remake of Dawn of the Dead (those first 20 minutes are jaw-droppingly good) and the opening-next-year Frank Miller adaptation 300 (which is looking beefcake-tastic and has given the world this shot of Gerard Butler, for which I am... appreciative), has signed on for the long, long, looooong gestating adaptation of The Watchmen. The Watchmen redefined what superhero graphic novels can do, and is in the tippy-top tier of intimately-adored fandom projects, so expect this shit to be watched closely.
--- Robert Rodriguez, who films movies in his sleep and while taking a dump, hasn't even finished shooting the first installment of Grind House, the two-part genre piece he's doing with Quentin Tarantino, but he's already yammering about a sequel.
--- Even more interesting in that last link, though, is mention of Alex Proyas' recent ruminating about making a sequel to much-beloved-by-me-and-by-Roger-Ebert sci-fi weirdo pic Dark City. Proyas says:
I really, really adore Dark City, and would kill to see Proyas get his groove back after the mostly-abysmal I, Robot.
--- Word continues to spin and spin (like, dare I say, a WEB???) about the Spidey 3 teaser being attached to Superman Returns:
--- Harry Potter 5 on IMAX. Since I haven't said it lately, Potter rocks. And I'm happy we haven't heard a peep from Ms. Rowling as of late, since I'm taking it to mean her arse is working hard on Book 7. GIT R DONE, WOMAN.
--- A new set of LotR DVD's??? Are you f'ing kidding me? With hundreds of minutes of new documantaries? SIGH.
--- Summer 2008 for Indiana Jones 4?

"DC was hardly a smash hit at the box office so it is unlikely, if a sequel was made, they'd give me a huge budget to work with. So don't worry too much about that! I am more and more interested in the idea of a sequel, and who knows, after the special edition comes out, with everyone's support behind it, a sequel...maybe who knows...but I've already said too much."

--- Word continues to spin and spin (like, dare I say, a WEB???) about the Spidey 3 teaser being attached to Superman Returns:
"It's actually a pretty neat teaser - it begins with a close up on the surface of the red material of the spidey suit and then has text reading something to the effect of how long can one hold out from the power of the dark side as the red material turns dark.
Then there's a montage of scenes and troubled reaction shots from Peter, Harry and Mary-Jane. We see Peter laying on a bed in his suit (but with his mask off) as black muck begins to slide up his hand.
Then it goes to Spidey and the camera starts turning to reveal him hanging upside down by some web looking at his Venom reflection in the side of a skyscraper. It's pretty good."
