Top O' Mornin' To Ya

I know there are many contributing factors and explanations for the following quote from EW's run-down of this past weekend's box office:

"...while Brokeback Mountain (which won the first big critics prize of the Oscar season, from the Los Angeles critics) grossed an absolutely unheard-of $109,000 in each of its 5 theaters for a total of $545,000."

Like the fact that those theaters are in NYC and LA, two bastions of queers and liberals, but it still gave me a gut-punch of giddiness first thing in the morning to see.

I went and saw BBM again on Saturday, and I'm going to write more about it later once I've had my breakfast and pulled myself together a bit, but let me just say my reaction was completely different than my first viewing. Meaning, this time, I cried. And cried. I pretty much started crying 20 minutes into it and never stopped for the entire weekend. I actually felt, at one point, like I had to leave the theater mid-film because I was in pain holding in my sobbing heaves, trying not to make a spectacle of myself.

Ahem. Yes, Pathetic, table for one.
