Spike the Vampyre

Noise is being made once again regarding a television movie for the Buffy/Angel character of Spike, immortalized in both series by James Marsters. Sounds like the head of the WB network is on board, Marsters is on board, and now there are actual rumblings from within Joss Whedon's Mutant Enemy production house that they've got it on the "front burner".

So... what's the problem? Everyone wants to do it. Let's have this on air before the end of the year, people!

As giddy as I can be in my current "about to die" state, I am. The thought of another visit to the Buffiverse makes my toes curl. Spike was neither my favorite nor least favorite character, but I didn't hate him like a lot of people did; I think Marsters is a fine actor and the character was a fascinating one, though I did tend to like the relentlessly evil Spike of early Buffy the best. He and Druscilla... televised gold.

But my mind goes wild with speculation as to who else would be involved. When we last saw the Spikester he was heading into a battle of probable defeat with the Angel gang - I would love to have Amy Acker be there, even as immortal Ilyria (I heart Fred); seemed pretty clear that Gunn was as good as dead (in a longer version of the finale script he died onscreen); and I doubt Boreanez will show up. There's always the possibility of a Buffy alum saying howdy... oh what I'd give for a little Willow action! I'd say there's probably a likely chance that Faith could be involved, too. Maybe Xander? Or Dawn...? Dru would be great! So many choices... why do I feel the inevitability of Andrew hovering over the entire thing?

Notice how I don't even mention the possibility of the Buffster herself showing her golden locks?

Here's what I want. Take a note, Mutant Enemy. I want Spike, Willow, Fred/Ilyria, Giles, and Faith. I want them as a ragtag international group of demon-slayers, scanning the globe with impossible means. And I want Giles to go evil, just for the hell of it. The possibility always lingered, and you chickened out on it before. Now get your asses moving, or I'll sick Gaknar The Fear Demon on you.

Oh holy christ. You *would* heart Fred. If she is cast in Spike's movie, I hope she passes the role for a lead in a snuff film...HA!
