Happy Roger Ebert Day!

Chicago's Mayor Daley has declared today Roger Ebert Day! No matter where you are, give the man a thumbs up, he deserves it.

He and Gene Siskel were both formative figures in my youth (miss you Gene), but I was always more of an Ebert follower. I adore Roger. It's weird how much I love him. I don't always agree with him (he has an odd tendency to give far too favorable reviews to J-Lo vehicles, ahem, boobies) but he's an amazing writer and lover of film... and he wrote Beyond the Valley of the Dolls which is just icing on the Ebert cake.

The Sun-Times has an entire section devoted to my man. Happy Day, Roger! May you be rocking that thumb for many years to come.
