After decades of performing on stage and screen since childhood, he has broken through to international audiences, especially the US with Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers, and Wicked and the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth. UK audiences familiar with his theatre and television appearances, will now have to share him with the rest of the world now that Hollywood's got him. He's making history as the first out gay actor to be cast in big budget, mainstream studio productions as a straight or gay romantic lead player; a fact that apparently has not at all dented his appeal among millions of female, and male, fans swooning over his portrayal of a smoldering Regency rake, an idealistic, closeted young senate staffer in 1950s Washington, and an ostensibly hedonistic handsome prince caught between two aspiring sorceresses in a kaleidoscopic fantasy.
