We are inexplicably roaring toward the 20th anniversary of Brokeback Mountain next year and just in time to celebrate the film is getting remastered for top-shelf 4K sadness by the wonderful folks over at Kino Lorber -- click here to pre-order the disc, which is out on June 25th. I started this here website in 2005, just a few months before Brokeback came out, and I can sort of credit that movie with starting my "career" (such as it is) since writing about it was how I started making contacts and friends and gaining readers here on the internet. Hard to believe it's almost been two decades of this nonsense! But at least when movies like Brokeback or Call Me By Your Name come along they inspire me to maybe be a little less nonsensical and share something genuine with y'all. Awwww, feelings! G'bless. I haven't watched Brokeback since... well since they last screened it at FLC, I think in 2017? Honestly seeing it on the big screen is such an overwhelming experience and it'd lost none of its power -- it's not a movie I can watch often but I can't imagine this new 4K restoration won't make the big-screen rounds and I expect to be sitting there with my moist tissues all over again.

I have watched Brokeback Mountain several times since its release.
I just imagine putting myself in their shoes. The pain each of them was going through to try to live their genuine selves. One-Jack-sayin the hell with it I am going to take a stab at it and Second-Ennis-so far in the closet, just looking out and seeing the shadows scares him. I love the scene when Ennis finds his shirt in Jack's closet at his parents' house. Not to give it away, pay attention at the very end of the movie when Ennis' daughter comes to visit. She leaves and Ennis goes to his closet in the trailer. You will need a BOX of tissues for that one. Ennis is haunted by his and Jack's relationship. What could have been?
Jake G., to this day, talks fondly about making the movie and aggressively defends it if someone speaks out of turn. Jake speaks warmly, and lovingly about his relationship with Heath.
The Worst Part Of This Movie For Me Was That Fumbling Tent Sex Scene.Maybe Ang Lee Should Have Watched A Gay Porn Or Two
They ate nothing but beans and never washed their dirty buttholes. There was a lot of shit dick
At the start of the movie it’s 1963 when Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist first meet. At that time gay men everywhere are forced to hide their true selves. In the meantime in 1969, the Stonewall riots occur, one of the first public action for gay rights. By the end of the movie at least 20 years have passed. I’d like to think that is Ennis and Jack were somehow about to escape Montana and Texas, and move to a more enlightened area they might have had a chance together.
I thought of this when I recently rewatched Arthur Hiller’s ground breaking movie “Making Love”. It was (one of?) the first gay love story released by a major American studio. It starred Harry Hamlin and Michael Ontkean. An it was released and set in 1982.
Hard to believe 20 years have gone by. I remember reading about the filming during the summer of 2004. How Heath almost broke Jakes nose during the kissing scene where Alma/Michelle espies them etc. Heath is really packing in that promo picture. Follow the line of Jack/Jakes eyes.
