I spent my Sunday binging all ten episodes of Shōgun on Hulu (which stars out boy Cosmo Jarvis, seen above and also in these gifs I made a couple weeks ago of his nude scene on the series before watching any of it) -- have any of you watched it yet? It gets thirteen samurai swords up from me -- go watch it if you haven't. I have never seen the original miniseries with Richard Chamberlain, nor I have ever read the book, but watching this series felt like devouring an entire novel and once I was all in I couldn't quit. Stayed up way past my bedtime last night finishing the show. Fantastic television that had my jaw dropping more than once an episode -- that earthquake scene! -- and riveted by all of the intricate political maneuvering in between. Plus Hiroyuki Sanada AND Tadanobu Asano? Are you kidding me? Don't miss it!
Spent all day binging #Shōgun which has been fantastic and not just because it knew well enough to give us this perfect moment with my long time beloved Tadanobu Asano pic.twitter.com/7TgavbApYl

This just moved up the list of things to watch. Have to finish binging a couple others before it's time to cancel a subscription or two. Then it's Shogūn time! HI-YAH!
So amazingly good, vastly superior to the Chamberlain version and far truer to the book. My only criticism was the blue contacts they made Cosmo (swoon!) wear because the character had blue eyes - they were distracting on occasion and made him look demonic. I got four episodes in early on and decided to wait until all dropped and then binged the entire thing as well. Epic TV at its finest and the material was condensed very well; kudos to the writers!
They really made a case for watching it on a weekly basis. It's good enough to hold up on a binge, but there was something about the yearning and wonder of waiting for the next episode that made the experience even better, maybe because you ruminated for an entire week so it lived with you beyond the actual screen time.
I would suck, lick and worship his feet!!!!
Those GIFs of Cosmos are a low-point for the character but I could not divert my eyes :P There's a more sensual scene of nude Cosmos in the hot bath when Mariko (Anna) connects with him. All great stuff.
I read one reviewer who thought Cosmos look devious / shifty?! Weird. I don't get that from him at all from his acting. Ochiba no Kata (Fumi) is a devious character and well acted by her. Meh, different strokes for different folks.
I'm also taking it slow, about 1 episode per week, to drag out the enjoyment. It's great.
SHŌGUN. I put the accent on the wrong letter. Doh!
Shuh-gyoon is a different show entirely...it's on STARZ. LOL.
