Johnson Aaron Johnson

According to The Sun newspaper in the UK, Aaron Taylor Johnson has been officially offered the role of James Bond, taking over from Daniel Craig. Not being a Brit I'm only vaguely aware of The Sun -- is it reputable or a rag? Everybody's running with the news as gospel today anyway because we are very bored people and this is what we fill our days with. I am not casting aspersions on you -- I'm more just looking at the man in the mirror today... asking him to change... what where was I sorry ahem. Anyway! Aaron has been in the main cross-hairs of  the Bond rumors for the past few years so this isn't a surprising pick...

... one did briefly wonder if they might go with someone a shade darker than alabaster this time around but Brits gonna Brit! (I am not casting aspersions on your country -- I come from the United States, a country build on the backs of people a shade darker than alabaster.) Wow this has been a weird way to write this announcement, huh? I'm clearly in a mood this morning, don't mind me. Mind yourselves, and tell me what you think of Aaron's casting in the comments and the poll down below. Personally I think he'll be fine. He'll at least continue the trend of Bond being the sexiest and most exploited person on-screen and for that we can only be thankful. Make sure to dig deep into our extensive Aaron archives if you need convincing on that topic.

the sun is a right wing murdoch rag famous for featuring topless female models on page three - which they only stopped in 2015

par -- that was my general impression but I suddenly wondered if I wasn't confusing them with another one.

Good choice, but while watching The Gentlemen I thought Theo James would be an even better choice.

James Bond has a steely intelligence - quick thinking and logical. Nothing about Aaron Taylor-Johnson even hints at him being intelligent.

Well, he doesn't exactly have to BE intelligent, just project intelligence when given intelligent lines to deliver (or intelligent actions to perform). Can't really think of any roles to date that have called upon him to do that, though. I wouldn't count on the screenwriters holding up their end of the bargain either.
