... you can learn from:
Gods and Monsters (1998)
James Whale: It is kind of you to indulge your eldersin their vices. Just as I indulge the young in theirs.
A happy 25 to one of my favorite movies, Bill Condon's Gods and Monsters -- you might know it by its alternate title "The only movie where the openly gay guy played an openly gay guy and got nominated for an Oscar." Do take note, Bradley Cooper.
It’s going to be unfortunate when we have two openly gay actors giving incredible performances as gay characters/people and then the straight guy is the only one to get nominated and gets the most attention, but hey that’s the Academy for you pic.twitter.com/OArVAH7NJP

Anyway let's not make this celebratory post about that bullshittery. I do wish I'd had time to rewatch this movie so I could've done a better job at properly dumping out some thoughts but I haven't actually seen it in some time -- possibly like a decade? Which is ridiculous and I am heading to Amazon the second I hit publish on this post to snap up a blu-ray, which I'm also disgusted to discover I don't already own. And since I'm such a dubious failure I put it to you fine people -- watched this lately? And an even better question -- has anyone with less body-shame than I have ever worn the below as a Halloween costume? Cuz it's a really good costume and I sure hope somebody has.
