That is Gladiator 2 producer Daria Cercek telling Variety (via) how Paul Mescal got cast without an audition in Ridley Scott's sequel, and I love her for it. Stunning brave honesty! Seriously though -- was it only ladies yelping? I have my doubts. Anyway I'm surprised at how little photographically we got of Mescal in Streetcar -- I posted a few photos right here, which includes the one above, and as far as I know that's it? Imagine if her prior male bosses had said that about her getting hired OR if a male executive said that about a female performer getting hired.
