Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Jerri Jordan: Pretty is just
how good you apply your base.

Jayne Mansfield was born 90 years ago today! I only just saw this movie above when Criterion put it out on blu-ray last year (one year ago today actually!) and my man my man is it a hoot and a half -- seek it out ASAP if you've never seen it. And make sure you watch the John Waters special feature contained on the Criterion disc too, if you get that, because he's the movie's number one fan and that'll get you in the right kinda mood. It's like Sirk by Looney Tunes.

Great movie, I want to rewatch it. Also fascinating for the ways it influenced ‘Mulholland Drive’.

Though I prefer "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?" and "The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw" this is a very fun bright and cheerful romp of a film with Jayne quite the visual sight.

I also realized it was the anniversary of her birth and wanted to watch something with her that I hadn't seen. Unfortunately I'd seen all her quality films (and quite a few of her less stellar flicks) and out of the lean pickings available I chose 1964's Primitive Love. It was GHASTLY!! Not even funny awful like "Las Vegas Hillbillies" just frightfully bad.
