It's the 58th birthday of the actor Ralph Nathaniel Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes aka "Ralph Fiennes" today, and it must be said we are fans. Big fans. Huge fans! But you know this already. We talk about him all the time. Still I did a search and realized I'd never done a list of my favorite Ralph performances? Which seems insane but then the world is insane -- this is one small potato in comparison. Still let's right it! Narrowing it down to 5 wasn't hard, I have a very specific five favorites, but I also could have done a Top 10 just as easy because there are five more I adore. He's real good, you guys.
My 5 Favorite Ralph Fiennes Performances
Harry Hawkes, A Bigger Splash
"We're all obscene. Everyone's obscene. That's the whole fucking point. We see it and we love each other anyway."
Harry, In Bruges
"How can fucking swans not fucking besomebody's fucking thing, eh? How can that be?"
Lord Voldemort, the Harry Potter films
"Join me in the forest tonight and confront your fate."
M. Gustave, The Grand Budapest Hotel
"When you're young, it's all filet steak, but as the years go by, you have to move onto the cheap cuts. Which is fine with me, becauseI like those. More flavorful, or so they say."
Runners-up: Spider, Red Dragon, Quiz Show, Strange Days,
The Constant Gardener, The English Patient, The End of the Affair

He's like a fine wine that keeps evolving. Love him.
Great list. I also like him in Oscar and Lucinda, The Duchess and The White Crow.
Can't wait for his take on Lord Marchmain.
OSCAR AND LUCINDA! Why do I always forget that movie exists? That movie came out when I worked at the indie arthouse cinema in college and I saw the last five minutes of it like fifty times
A very fine actor.
My top 5:
In Bruges
The Constant Gardner
Quiz Show
Skyfall
Coriolanus
Top 5
Schindler’s List
English Patient
In Bruges
Grand Budapest Hotel
A Mighty Splash
The last 2 should have been Oscar wins, let alone nominations.
He is fantastic.
Definitely Schindler’s list.
His part in A Bigger Splash was nice, especially the nude pool scene.
Probably Schindler, Splash and Budapest. I had the biggest crush on Ralph though when I was 10 and he played the suited agent in that superflop movie with Uma Thurman, the hat and the walking stick. Avengers, right?
Great quote from Grand Budapest Hotel, but I always fall back on, "You filthy, goddamn, pock-marked, fascist assholes!" Kind of gets you right there, dudn't it?
Season One, Episode one of Prime Suspect. Oh my God, his eyes in that episode.
I liked the movie Strange Days with him and Angela Basset. I think its pretty underrated.
