... you can learn from:
Shutter Island (2010)
Teddy: You know, this place makes me wonder.
Chuck: Yeah, what's that, boss?
Teddy: Which would be worse - to live
as a monster, or to die as a good man?
I was really hoping to get a chance to re-watch Shutter Island before today, its 10 year anniversary, because truth be told I didn't really like it all that much when I saw it in 2010 (here's my really brief review from the time) and I haven't bothered to re-watch it since. I haven't re-watched it, but still here in 2020 when I think back on the film I remember it fondly, and seem to have convinced myself that I'll like it more now than I did then? I'm not sure why...
... I feel as if the problems I had with it at the time, a sort of vagueness of purpose, might be less of a sticking point with me as I age than they were then; I'm more open to embracing mystery and moral grays, not to mention that its playing with genre feels in retrospect more interesting than it did at the time. Anyway have any of you watched Shutter Island lately? Have thoughts on the film?

Uff, those were still the days I didn't walk out of tiresome films. I definitely would walk out of Shutter Island now 🙄, despite the cast.
