Which is Hotter?

.
Great thanks to Nathaniel alerting us to what would have been the 100th birthday of the actor Richard Todd today in this post at The Film Experience -- I wasn't terribly familiar with Todd's filmography but I do know him from Alfred Hitchcock's 1950 film Stage Fright with Marlene Dietrich and [awful actress name redacted], and so I figured I should dig deeper, and I'm glad I did!

As Nathaniel pointed out he won a Golden Globe for "Promising Newcomer" just the year before Stage Fright for his role in the WWII flick The Hasty Heart, and he worked pretty steadily for the next five decades including, within just a couple of years of that honor, playing for Walt Disney both Robin Hood (in 1952's The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men) and Rob Roy (in 1953's Rob Roy: The Highland Rogue). And looking quite hearty as both...

I'm obviously a little partial to his spectacularly bearded and butch Rob Roy interpretation -- I wonder if there's any good up-the-kilt action? -- but he wears those Robin Hood tights pretty well as well, I must admit. And if you hit the jump I've got several more pictures worth an ogle, including a few of him in his mustache best in 1953's The Sword and the Rose...
