Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Hereditary (2018)
Annie: I never wanted to be your mother.
Peter: Why?
Annie: I was scared. I didn't feel like a mother.
But she pressured me.
Peter: Then why did you have me?
Annie: It wasn't my fault! I tried to stop it.
Peter: How?
Annie: I tried to have a miscarriage.
Peter: How?
Annie: However I could. I did everything
they told me not to do, but it didn't work.
I'm happy it didn't work.
Peter: You tried to kill me.
Annie: No, I love you!
Peter: Why did you try to kill me?
Annie: I didn't! I was trying to save you!
I hadn't planned on doing more Hereditary talk today after mentioning the film just last night but then I checked today's celebrity birthdays on IMDb and not only is today Toni Collette's 46th birthday but today is ALSO Alex Wolff's 21st! The mother and the son tied up together forever -- how apt!

Anyway there is so much excellent acting happening in this movie (here's my review in case you missed it), and between these two characters, that it would be hard to pick a favorite thing but if I had to I would probably choose the way that Toni tries to pull these words back into her mouth as she's saying them...

... that she's horrifying herself so much that it's affecting her physically. There's not a single misjudged or unconvincing moment in either of these performances. Let's all say a prayer or two to Paimon that the Oscars don't muck it all up per their usual....

were the oscars ever something that would honor good movies. like that's not really their criterion of selection.. at least that's what it seems to me. so if hereditary does not win an oscar i feel like we are at a point where that is even more of a sign that it's just really a good movie :)
