I know the Oscars can only give out one Best Director statue per year and so they're always playing catch up with the greats - super happy to have Guillermo Del Toro checked off the list, guys! - but the realization that a genius like Spike Jonze, who turns our imaginations inside out every time he turns a movie camera on, upending everything we thought it was possible to see, the thought that he has never won Best Director... that's some bullshit right there. He's only been nominated once! (He does have a statue for Best Screenplay though.)
