A very happy 70th birthday to Dianne Wiest today!
What's your fave performance from this fab actress?

Mine is probably Hannah and Her Sisters,
but only slightly over Synecdoche New York
and only because it's a bigger meatier part.

A hard to find movie called 'Independence Day' ( NOT starring Will Smith) was my first introduction to this terrific actress. I was blown away by her performance.

Hannah and Her Sisters is my fave too but followed closely by Bullets Over Broadway and Parenthood.

A Guide to Recognizing - a great movie about horrible people. Not her typical role.

Definitely Hannah and Her Sisters. Funny and touching performance.

Definitely 'Hannah', tho I am loving her on 'Life in Pieces'. She was heartbreaking in 'Bright Lights. Big City' as well. And I loved her in 'September'. Oh, hell, I just love her in everything. She was sitting behind me on a plane a few years ago, and I had to tell her how much I loved her. She was very sweet.

So many great roles -- she's never less than stellar in them -- but her turn in Rabbit Hole has really stuck with me, especially her delivery of that speech about grief and how it follows you until you realize it's all you have left of the lost and thus don't mind keeping a bit of grief in your pocket.

She's so good in Synecdoche - but definitely Hannah and Her Sisters. I'd say it's in the running for best performance ever that won the Supporting Actress Oscar.

She was (as usual) good in Bright Lights, Big City, but to me "heartbreaking" in that makes me think of Swoosie Kurtz.

I'm somebody else loves her in Synecdoche - honestly just thinking about the way she delivers that monologue over the finale of the film gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. It's one of the most gorgeous sequences ever put on film.
