I know I should say Meet Me in St. Louis which is a fine film but I prefer his late 50's trio of The Reluctant Debutante, Some Came Running and Home from the Hill.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the fever dream that is The Pirate but while its a mad film it's not one that I'd place in my top five of his films.
Designing Woman
I have several favorite Minnelli films: I think Judy gives one of her best performances in The Clock, Meet Me in St. Louis is always a treat and Gigi is one of the greatest uses of Paris ever put on film. However, I think Some Came Running is good, Lust for Life is an extraordinary film and On a Clear Day is beautiful.
Meet me in St. Louis, Louis!
Tea and Sympathy, Designing Women, The Long Long Trailer
Goodbye Charlie is not to be overlooked either.
Without a doubt, the Academy Award winner "An American In Paris" starring and choreographed by the astoundingly talented Gene Kelly, followed by "The Pirate" starring and choreographed by the astoundingly talented and smoking hot Gene Kelly.
