Brando's Never Been Done Before

.
This seems dangerous to me (who the hell would play him?) but there's forward momentum on a Marlon Brando bio-pic happening - a memoir by director George Englund, who was a good friend of Brando's, has been optioned. Englund directed Brando in the 1963 flick The Ugly American, which I had actually never heard of before this moment? Anyone seen it? Here's a photo of the two together:

Englund's book is called The Way It’s Never Been Done Before
and one quote from a review on Amazon stands out:

"Englund prefers to detail Brando's hobby of humiliating women. He also enjoys casting himself as the actor's co-conspirator, whether Brando is farting in elevators or hijacking rickshaws in Hong Kong."

At this moment in time it's hard to look at Brando and not think about the charges leveled at him and Bertolucci for their behavior towards Maria Schneider while making Last Tango in Paris, so perhaps diving face-first into Brando's problematic behavior is the way to go. But then what about the gay stuff? Brando was openly bisexual - can we not straight-wash him please?

Can you think of anyone who could play Brando today?
I have no idea if he could do it but I did think of Alden Ehrenreich.

My pick has been Alexander Dreymon for years now. He's a good actor, absolutely gorgeous with a resemblance to young Brando and if "Christopher and His Kind" is anything to go off of, he'd be comfortable playing a queer role like Brando.

If a Brando biopic is ever made, yes, it will be straight washed.

Emory Cohen might pull it off.
