Pics of the Day

.
.
It's been a banner day for Snaps 'o Jake thanks to the ever hearty souls at IHJM - he is really out there and making the rounds for Stronger, and as well he should since the movie's terrific and he is terrific in it. Do you guys think he'll finally get his second Oscar nomination this year?

Just watched Stronger. No, I don't think it's a terrific movie at all. In fact, I find it bland and more than ever, I'm tired of Hollywood making the same overcome-your-disabilities movies over and over. But horse-face Jake was phenomenal in it. He'll get his Oscar nom.

While I try to respect other opinions, I strongly disagree with this last "anonymous" post. Especially with the rude name calling. If you haven’t already heard we celebrate Jake Gyllenhaal here, so please hold all your bitterness to yourself… With that said I loved the movie! I thought it was full of life and brutal honesty. I came up in a house where alcoholism was something that had somewhat of effect on how I became an adult, and It was nice to be able to notice that detail in this story because of it. It’s not something most talk about because a lot of shame is built around the subject. I love that they made it as personable as possible and to a point where it gave this character humility. I also love that it was a true story about a guy that was viewed as a hero by his community, but was everything but. I didn’t like the red socks baseball fan moment thing they had at the end, but other then that it was a very solid functioning film. Mr.Gyllenhaal was perfection, and I have to say, his last few roles were strong performances in questionable films. I would personally be baffled if he doesn’t get a nom, I’m expecting him to win after seeing this film. Every Gyllenhaal fan needs to see this.

Dear Jarjello, the bitterness is all in your head. Don't take yourself too seriously.
