Today I'd rather be...

One of the bad things about me taking off the entire weekend from blogging is that when things like this strike over those couple of days there's an entire internet ready to beat me to the punch - a few years back it wasn't so (these things usually took a day or two) but now they're up within minutes. So you can click here or click here (thx Mac) for more, since...
... I'm not going to bother capping the whole thing now. (Especially since Evan spends half the season in those underwear, so just watch the dang show.) (That said I did manage to post a couple of other shots on the Tumblr too.)

But one of the good things about taking the entire weekend off is I can go home and take a couple of days and binge-watch the new season of Orange is the New Black, without which I would've had this scene spoiled for me beforehand, so... it's a real yin-yang thing. I mean, maybe I might be the one spoiling things now? Sorry!
That said I'm immensely pleased to make Evan Hall's acquaintance. I did notice him last season but they really made me notice him this year. I just wish he had more of an online presence - he doesn't even have an Instagram. Walk that hot ass into the 21st Century, Evan. Thankfully his also-hot co-star Nick Dillenburg is filling in the gap...
.
I haven't actually completely finished the new season yet - I have two and a half episodes to go. But it's been great so far. Any non-spoilery thoughts from y'all?

WOW - that's incredibly HOT.
It's depressing that the show has elected to jettison whatever sympathetic traits the characters possess by making them all abhorrent monsters. Sexual assault is sexual assault. It doesn't matter if its guards or prisoners committing it, it's wrong.
But I suppose that's par for the course for this current era of ours, where we've discarded empathy and progress for zero sum twitter battles where we view each other as the devil incarnate. In our present worldview, we're only interested in extermination of our enemies, and the prisoners actions make logical sense.
Wait, who was sexually assaulted in this scene? Nobody made him strip - he chose stripping as his talent.
Are you talking about the season in general? I do definitely think there are moments in the new season that could be viewed as what you're getting at - they do give that one guard a humiliating cavity search on stage.
But the show seems totally aware of the horror of this transgression - that's what causes the rift between prisoners and sends a bunch of them outside into the yard for the rest of the "revolution."
I don't think we're supposed to find that scene funny, and I think there are lots of moments along thru the season where we're supposed to question whether the inmates go too far, and to think about those power structures... I do think the show is asking those questions.

The prisoners were in a position of power over him. He may have chosen it, but what option did he really have? It's the same problem I had with Bennett - yes his relationship with Daya was technically 'consensual', but it was still a person in authority taking advantage of a person who was under his control, and the show appeared to treat the biggest issue as his willingness to be a responsible father, rather than his being a guard having sex with a prisoner.

I hope so. Because to me the show is at its best when it shows the consequences of the abuses of power that are prevalent in the prison system, and that there is something inherently damaging about subjecting people to punishment that has nothing to do with deterrence and denunciation. Yes, I get some visceral satisfaction from watching abusers being abused, but that can't be the answer, unless one believes humans are incapable of being better than their tormenters.
Love his hairy chest and his black briefs!
You would feel this way about a coerced striptease. I'm shocked you didn't post gifs of the scene where the hillbilly methhead assaulted him by forcing him to shove his fingers up her twat with a knife held to his throat. But maybe that's being saved for another post. I'm sure if they performed the rape/anal probing on this dude you would've been all over that too. Good thing it was done to the big fat ugly one.
