Don't Do It, Tom Hardy

.
There's a rumor going around that Guy Ritchie - who is apparently directing the live-action Aladdin movie? I had no idea - wants Tom Hardy to play the villain Jafar, and as this post's title says... he needs to not do that. While part of me loves the idea of Tom wearing eyeliner and satin pants while lisping villainously - I like all of those thoughts a whole lot, actually - we're passed the point of no return on white-washing and they need to hire a Middle-Eastern actor for this role. Thankfully this rumor's just coming at us via The Sun and they're a rag who might've just made it up on the spot. But what do you guys think...

.
ETA it occurs to me that I should ask y'all who SHOULD play Jafar. Any suggestions? I googled quick-like and came up with a Turkish actor and singer named Murat Boz. I don't know anything about him but he looks like this and that sells it for me:

I'll take Omid Abtahi please...wait, he's too adorable to be Jafar. So, Riz Ahmed then.

I had the same thought: Oded Fehr.

Enough with the live action remakes. Disney treats its legacy like a cash machine. Greedy, motherf*ckers! The Jungle Book was great and I liked Cinderella but Beauty and the Beast was completely unnecessary. And Guy Ritchie needs to take a break, don the hair-shirt and self-flagellate for nearly toppling Charlie Hunnam's career. Mea Culpa, ya wanker!!

My 1st thought was Oded Fehr too. Had a crush on him since the 1st Brendan Frasier "Mummy."

Also what about Mousa Kraish? He can go from cute and charming to insidiously evil. I think he'd make a Jafar that you'd love to hate.

Ben Kingsley is good at that too, and he's half Arabian. Too old for Jafar?

If Saleh Bakri doesn't get this role I won't watch this movie. DO YOU HEAR ME GUY RITCHIE?!

the better question is "Why in the hell is Guy Ritchie directing Aladdin" After the mess of King Arthur, you'd think the studio heads would re-think this

Akin Gazi should be involved somehow.

well, Tahar Rahim is not playing Aladdin so the movies already a miss for me. I just looked up Saleh Bakri upon reading tanpoffel's comment and an Israeli actor named Sasson Gabai popped up very jaffar capable. Ben Kinsley certainly thats a sexy beast right for a wannabe sultan of darkness. We need an Arabic Christopher lee or vincent price, is that too much to ask. clearly im still invested in this film.
