Today I'd rather be...
... watching Laura Dern beat
Woody Harrelson with her purse.
Oh my god you guys - one of my Delusions has finally come true! I no longer live in a land of delusion! (Cue me having Dern's exact pronunciation of "You never had control -- THAT'S the illusion!" in Jurassic Park stuck in my head suddeenly.) Thank you, Wilson! Thank you, Wilson's trailer...
..
So this movie has that "This will be one of your favorite movies of 2017 and you're gonna be super annoyed 12 months from now when nobody's nominating any of these amazing actors (and I do mean the both of them, although Dern is obviously a given) for it for the Oscars" feeling written all over it, doesn't it?
Wilson was directed by the director of The Skeleton Twins and it is based on Daniel Clowe's graphic novel, which I've had sitting on a shelf since it came out yet I haven't cracked open yet, whoops -- now I have to decide if I just wait to see the movie before reading it? After watching the trailer I'd clearly be picturing these folks in the roles already that won't be a problem. I mean what a pleasure it is...
... picturing Laura Dern's glorious face again.

I think this might be one of those times when the movie isn't gonna work. The graphic novel is great: hilarious, unique, and startlingly candid, but also possessing a kind of fragility that may well not survive the big-screen treatment. Harrelson is a poor choice to play Wilson; he is not nearly invisible enough.
