Pic of the Day

.
So while I was googling around for pictures of gay kisses last night I stumbled upon this picture of Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger on the set of Brokeback Mountain - A PICTURE I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. If you were here at the time Brokeback came out (and yes I have been blogging that long - good grief) then you know that much like I have been with Call Me By Your Name recently I was ON TOP of Brokeback Mountain. (Insert your own pun there.) Just constant posting of any and every thing I could find. So there being a behind-the-scenes picture of Jake & Heath that I haven't seen by this point, that's a special thing. Do you know that I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Brokeback since Heath Ledger died? Have you watched it recently? I can't even believe it's over 11 years old now.

I watched it about 6 months ago. Still just as good as it was the first time I saw it. I'd forgotten just how good Heath was in that role.

Ive kinda avoided Heath films altogether since. Which is not because i dont love every damn one of them, its just they all mean so much to me, as did he. So i have the memory i don't need to relive them now, in a world with out him.

I actually haven't been able to watch the movie since it was in theaters. I keep telling myself to watch it again but I just think of that final scene with the shirt and I just can't go back there.

I've always felt Ang Lee was the one to get across to the mainstream, but this film for repping gay love us like consecrating Archie Bunker as the face of racial equality and the right to human dignity, just cos he was "hawt" as a young dood.
