I didn't even think about this until just now with the news that American Honey got nominated for six Independent Spirits but post-election American Honey is the perfect movie for 2016 - many years from now in retrospect I think the film will loom large in defining this here cultural moment of our lives. Here's my review of the movie in case you missed it way back when. Congrats to Andrea Arnold and everyone involved with that movie. Also congrats to the folks behind Moonlight, who also got six nominations.
