Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

Marie Antoinette (2006)
.
Marie-Antoinette: [to her first-born, a daughter] Oh, you were not what was desired, but that makes you no less dear to me. A boy would have been the Son of France, but you, Marie Thérèse, shall be mine.

Sometimes it is brought to my attention that not everyone thinks Sofia Coppola's film about the french queen is a masterpiece and it's like part of my body retracts, turtle-like (I won't say which part) - I can't fathom thinking this film any less than a grand achievement with a grand performance from Kristen Dunst. I won't! I shan't, even! Such thoughts are poppycock, mere poppycock.

Anyway the movie came out 10 years ago today! Have you been following the celebration of "Marie-Antoinette Movies" over at The Film Experience all week? Go! Do!

I was listening to New Order's Ceremony the other day and had flashes of the movie Marie Antoinette and how I was excited to see it back in the day but I never got round to it because of the mixed reception. I think you've just given me the go ahead to watch it. ;)
