Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Mist (2007)

Ollie: As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion?

It's Stephen King's 69th birthday today! There are a ton of Stephen King movies and series in the making right now - we're probably most excited (slash scared of) the new version of It that's coming from the director of mama, but it's hardly alone; hell we just got word that after Idris Elba's Dark Tower movie comes out there will be a TV series related to King's book series as well. But most importantly...

... in a couple of weeks (October 11th to be exact) that Scream Factory remastered blu-ray of Carrie, Brian De Palma's 1976 telekinetic stunner, is out! Have you ordered your copy yet? I suggest you do, the special features on this thing look great and I cannot wait to see how pretty they made the movie look with the 4K restoration. We'll finally see the dress is pink, Mama.

I got to meet Lawrence D. Cohen at a theatre conference this past weekend -- he was there with Dean Pitchford, talking about the CARRIE musical revival, showing the infamous "tea in the face" scene from the film, then comparing it with a scene from the newest iteration of the musical. I got to gush to Mr. Cohen after the panel was over, telling him how much CARRIE the movie meant to me when I was a wee gay kid growing up on a farm in 1980s eastern Montana. He's a cool guy.
