Charlie Takes New York

.
I'd really begun to think that my chance to see Charlie Hunnam in person, meaning in the real live flesh of it all, would never apparate - he doesn't seem interested in doing Broadway and he hasn't really been doing movies that do the rounds at film festivals. I mean, when James Gray's The Lost City of Z was first announced I was picturing a rolling Indiana Jones type of adventure; something goofy like his King Arthur movie is going to be. But then the trailer came out and it, shocker, actually looked like James Gray's other more somber and serious movies...

.
... and so today the New York Film Festival has announced that the film will be their Closing Night selection, and with that my dreams of Hunnam Flesh are coming to fruition! There's no way he won't show for that, right? Make no mistake - this is as big a thrill for me as seeing any film person would be; I've been in Camp Charlie for nearly 20 years now, ever since the British Queer as Folk aired. I mean I've already seen scraggly ol' Jake Gyllenhaal half a dozen times by now, that's old hat. Long live the New Old Flesh!

Oh FFS! When is he going to stop trying to be butch and just bottom again? Rupaul makes a more believable man's man. Hell, I kept expecting him to go full-power bottom on Rob Kazinsky in Pacific Rim. There was more chemistry and passion between those two in one scene than in this entire boring ass trailer. You can't play this role if I keep expecting you to snap and call people 'hunty'.

Don't ask me how he pulled off 6 seasons of Sons of Anarchy. Maybe Katy showed him how.
