Quote of the Day

.
"Maybe it’s because I’m raising a daughter, or because I personally believe that my wife is stronger than I, but I have a lot of interest in female characters. Worldwide, there is a significant lack of strong female characters. I want to see women who have their own goals and desires, and strong wills, not just polite and “angelic” characters. However, I’ve realized there just isn’t much representation of these kinds of women in this industry."

--- That's South Korean director Park Chan-wook in an interview where he talks about his new film The Handmaiden, which this site was kind enough to translate. The film just opened in South Korea and was a big success - we don't have a U.S. date yet but Amazon is planning on releasing it here some time this year. Anyway his quote seemed pretty timely this afternoon, given the historic political events here in the US - in case you missed it on Instagram (I posted a ton of pictures) I attended Hillary Clinton's fantastic speech in Brooklyn last night, and it was, indeed, fantastic.
