Who Wore It Best?

.
First things first there's a new old photo-shoot of Jake Gyllenhaal in the world - that is to say that some out-takes from an old shoot, the one he did for Men's Journal, have shown up online (thanks to IHJM as ever) and we'll be sharing them all down below. They are very very hot and you will want to look at them! Second things second, Jake is doing another musical on stage! Unfortunately it's another One Night Only Event, read about it here. (thanks to Row-bin for the heads-up.) He really needs to commit!

Third things third today is the 25th anniversary of Thelma & Louise, which in theory has nothing at all to do with Jake Gyllenhaal... unless you want to make some long drawn out case connecting Ridley Scott's film with Jake's debut in City Slickers...

... which came out that same year - hey it's actually turning 25 in two weeks! Perhaps there is a case to be made after all; something about Westerns in the 90s.

Anyway I'm not the one who made it about Jake -- they've been tag-teaming the film over at The Film Experience this week and yesterday Nick Davis, writing about the introduction of Brad Pitt's character J.D., had this to say:

"Fourteen years before Jack Twist ogled Ennis del Mar through a rearview mirror while "shaving," Thelma eye-fucked J.D. through a rearview while she touched up her mascara. I swear, men everywhere steal all their best moves from women! There's even a lone acoustic guitar playing on the soundtrack, though it suggests a gathering erotic spark under a summer sun, not Brokeback's lonesome eulogies. J.D.'s even wearing Jack Twist's outfit!"

Indeed it is pretty damn close! Although Jack Twist mainly wore a black cowboy hat and never really unbuttoned with J.D.'s fervor -- although knowing the abs that Pitt was rocking down there who could blame him -- the outfits do call each other to mind.

So we gotta ask...

.
Send your hate-mail for being forced to make that choice care of Nick Davis, not me, anyway. And now you can hit the jump for thirteen more shots from that very good, very nice, new-old photo-shoot of Jake...

Jake gets an advantage because his movie was shot in a decade when costumes fit actors properly, but a win's a win. :D
