Happy Birthday, Laura Dern

.
I've already listed five of my favorite performances of hers on a previous birthday, but honestly I could probably go ahead and list five more because everything Laura Dern touches is golden. Since I made that list in 2009 she's turned out magic with Enlightened, Wild, The Master and 99 Homes, all of which are top tier Dern. Hell her performance in Enlightened when it comes down to it will probably end up being the Definitive Dern. She's a marvel and a wonder.

Have you ever seen her in the great little indie Year of the Dog? She's hilarious as an upper middle class yuppie type. Love her and always will.

Oh yes I've seen that movie a dozen times, it's one of my favorites. Completely brilliant.

I would add her performance in The Fault in Our Stars too. Didn't like the movie too much, but she was aces in it.

I guess I should be grateful for two years of Enlightened and at least the season finale worked as a series ender but it still galls me that HBO canceled it when the network keeps trifles like Girls on way past its expiration date.

I initially resisted Wild because I figured it was a typical Reese Witherspoon movie but was pleasantly surprised and Dern was so heartbreaking in it.

Yes, loved Enlightened so much. She was amazing in it and like the other comment said, even though I'd have loved to see it go on, the ending really kinda worked as an ending.

I also love that she's down with the musical swirl. Ben Harper and now Common. I ain't mad at ya Laura.
