I'm Afraid of Americans I'm Afraid of the World

Before I vanish for the remainder of the morning I figure I gotta post this quick -- last night the trailer for something called 10 Cloverfield Lane appeared online - produced by JJ Abrams, it is in some way connected to the 2008 film Cloverfield, but we're not sure how. Is it a prequel or a sequel? Is it just a spin-off film set in the same world but unrelated to the events of the first movie? Are they just using the "Cloverfield" name as the start of anthology series and it really really has nothing to do with the first movie at all? Nobody seems to know, and that's exactly how JJ Abrams wants it. This movie is done, filmed and ready for release in 7 weeks, on March 11th. 

Anyway I looooved the original Cloverfield -- I loved it unreservedly and still do, dammit -- and I hope this is somehow related, but even if it's not it looks good! John Goodman, Elizabeth Mary Winstead and John Gallagher Jr are all terrific actors to spend time with no matter what sort of evil alien is on the other side of that door. Watch!
