Netflix has put their money where their movie-loving mouth is and are tossing fifty million cool ones at Snowpiercer director Bong Joon-ho to make Okja, his monster-movie with Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton, Kelly MacDonald, Paul Dano, and Bill Nighy. Dear lord, that cast. We told you about this movie previously, but still, that cast! It gets me!
In announcing the news the director gets in a swipe at the Weinsteins, who famously held Snowpiercer at ransom, pointing out that Netflix will be giving him complete creative freedom. Bong, you know what would be really artful? If Jake Gyllenhaal was naked the whole movie. ART!
Anyway there's a tidbit more info about the movie's plot at the link -- it's apparently the story of a little girl who makes friends with the monster, and the little girl hasn't been cast yet, which I suppose relegates all of this awesome cast to supporting characters. Or maybe Tilda Swinton will play the little girl? You know she could and you know it would be incredible.
