--- Ever The Riz He Was - This news is a week old but I kept forgetting to share it - Riz Ahmed, so terrific in Nightcrawler last year, has joined the cast of the next Jason Bourne movie, whatever the hell it's called, The Bourne Floral Emporium
or whatever. He is playing "a tech specialist" and I hope it's an
actual substantive role and not just some sort of racial typecasting
because Riz deserves far better than that. See some hot pictures of Riz right here!
.
--- Met Him In A Hotel - I feel like all I ever see are people complaining, always complaining, about American Horror Story -- every year, every episode, blah blah blah. I think this season airing right now has been very strong - much less erratic than previous ones; I think the set (god the glorious set) helps keep things contained. Anyway some stuff works better than others but that's the nature of these beasts -- I'm usually just happy something so dark and disturbed is somehow making its way across the world, poisoning young minds as it goes. And here I am, blah blah blahing - point being the show just got renewed for a sixth season! Where do you think they'll head next year?

--- The Demon Online - This news broke before today's news that Netflix is financing Bong Joon-ho's movie with Jake Gyllenhaal and Tilda Swinton but it feels a little less cool in that news' shadow, typing it now, but it's still great -- Amazon has snapped up the rights to Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon, his female-centric horror movie about beauty and violence starring Elle Fanning. No word on their release plans yet but I hope this means the gears are in motion!

--- Man, Drake - I only made it about halfway through this article at Pitchfork giving us what seems like thousands of words on Why It Matters that Sufjan Stevens has been covering Drake on his current tour -- I don't know Drake from a hole in the ground so I don't really give a crap, when it comes down to it. I care about Suffy, sure! But Drake notsomuch.
.
--- The Spandex Spanker - This should've been "Quote of the Month" material but I worry they'll play his horniness as a joke and not the sex-fest it should be - Ryan Reynolds and his Deadpool director have opened up about how they're making the comic book character the "fuck anything that moves" sort (they use the word "pansexual." Says Ryan:
"There is some sexuality in this movie for sure. You kinda think you have moments when you’re shooting where you think, “This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?” But so far so good. The studio hasn’t crushed us with anything. They were here yesterday, they were thrilled, they saw some cut footage and so far so good. We did a photo shoot for an entire day of just different, completely insane things that Deadpool is doing and there’s a lot more to come. They’ll be slowly released.".
--- In Related Ryan News, he's joined the cast of an action-thriller called Hitman's Bodyguard (that is one clunky title) with Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson - the dude who directed the second Kick-Ass movie, which I might be the only person on Earth who kinda liked that (it was better than the first piece of garbage), is directing. It's a buddy road movie, where the buddies are hitmen who can't stand each other. Oldman's the "buddy" in question.
.
--- Evil Junior - Bloody Disgusting points us over to the artist Sean Hughes who has created a children's book version of the Evil Dead movies called The Littlest Deadite and it is every bit as awesome as it sounds. I really hope Sam Raimi sees it and 1) Allows the book to be printed and 2) Turns it into a movie. I want it all! In related news have you guys been watching Ash vs Evil Dead? Two episodes in and I couldn't be happier with it - it's every bloody ounce of fun I wanted it to be. Hooray!
.
--- And Finally Brian De Palma is making a new movie! I enjoyed Passion more than most people seemed to (I've been thinking about re-watching it lately, just to see all those times Rachel McAdams throws her nightgown around in a huff) so I'm pretty happy about this -- it's called Lights Out and it's an action thriller (duh) about a blind Chinese girl caught up in an assassination plot who uses her heightened senses to, presumably, kick ass and take names.

AHS is one of my favorite shows. It started with series 3. Those witches really broke me and made me love again. The gifs! THE GIFS!
This season, my only complaint is two-fold. That ugly blonde kid who can't pronounce his words half the time despite not being a baby, and the obsessed mom plot line. She has a daughter, but can't be fucked to care. I'm hoping someone cuts her head off. Maybe give her hair to Liz.
Obsessed? Me? Never!
