Good Morning, Toy Soldiers

.
I don't know how I had totally forgotten about something so... formative... but until last week I'd totally forgotten about the 1991 film Toy Soldiers, starring Sean Astin, Will Wheaton, and several other familiar in 1991 young male faces, as a group of students at a rich-kid boarding school that gets seized by terrorists. Think Die Hard Jr. I haven't seen it in decades and I can't imagine it's anything but godawful at this point...

... but man do the boys spend a hefty chunk of the film in their underwear. (That one dude's red briefs are basically iconic in my personal lexicon.) God, I probably wore out this videotape I rented it from the library so many times. The film has been released on DVD to my surprise, and it has gotten a blu-ray release overseas? (Where it is maybe titled Boy Soldiers?) I did manage to wrestle up some lo-fi-ish pics from the movie so hit the jump and I'll share...

Wow - "Toy Soldiers" held the same place for me! Totally formative! Wore that VHS out for those shirtless Sean Astin scenes! "Red Underwear" got alot of my attention as well - but not as much as that trail down Astin's stomach did. This movie was very special to this young gay boy! Thanks for the blast from the past!

Nope. Sean Astin, Wil Wheaton, and Keith Coogan didn't do it for me then, and sure don't do it for me now.

Now, White Squall---THAT was a great movie!

Didn't Sean Astin show his ass during this movie? I remember seeing ass from someone.

George Perez, however, filled out those red briefs quite nicely...

"Is this your plane Yogurt?"...for some stupid reason that line has stuck with me as much as any quote from any movie.
