A happy 32nd birthday to Andrew Garfield today! I know his Spider-Man movies aren't well thought of at this point (nor am I saying they should be, they weren't great, besides the Spider-bum natch) but I hope it doesn't impede his career because he's showed so so much promise in everything else he's done. Ever since Boy A (which is where I fell for him) up through his brief (heh) role in the Red Riding saga and then Never Let Me Go (gahhh Never Let Me Go is so good) and here in The Social Network, he's always so good. I can't wait to see him and Michael Shannon face off in 99 Homes from the great Ramin Bahrani, and then of course there's the role he's been sporting that godawful beard for so long for, Silence with Martin Scorsese. I'm a little worried that the only other project he's got lined up is Mel Gibson's next directorial effort -- let's sign this boy on to some good stuff, please.
