5 Off My Head - Come To Me, Carol

The trailer for Todd Haynes Carol, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara in an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's classic lesbian romance The Price of Salt, is finally here! I just watched it five times right in a row and it is the precise right amount of luxuriously miserable - I am fully prepared for this movie to destroy me. Watch:

Anyway as I went through it several shots popped at me... well actually every single shot popped at me, but there were a few that extra popped. So let's look at them!

Not sure how much of these saturated washes of color are in the movie or just for the trailer but they're reminding me of Paul Thomas Anderson's Punch-Drunk Love and that's never a bad thing as far as romance (or great movie-making)  is concerned.

Really though the opportunity to stare at Cate Blanchett in these costumes with that make-up being framed like the spectral vision she is, it is enough - it is enough for ten movies.

Let us not downplay how great Rooney looks though! I was sad when Mia Wasikowska had to drop out but Rooney looks tremendous and according to people who've seen the film she is indeed. Anyway god the lighting! The lighting! God!

I mean come on.

Is that hand our lesbian equivalent of
