Today would have been the 84th birthday of Jacques Demy, the director of one of my most favorite films, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg with Catherine Deneuve and Nino Castelnuovo as gorgeous doomed lovers. In his honor we all must agree to sing everything we say for the rest of the day. DO IT.

Since my singing voice would be a form of torture for those around me I won't be inflicting that on them but I do LOVE The Umbrellas of Cherbourgh. Beautiful film in every way.
They are both at their most beautiful in The Umbrellas of Cherbourgh. I always cry at the end.
One of the great masterworks of the French New Wave!
