Good Morning, World

.
I'm breaking my "avoid Ethan Hawke at all costs" rule today by posting these shots of him naked on the beach in Gattaca because it's the 51st birthday of the director Andrew Niccol and we love Gattaca, and we love Niccol, even if he keeps insisting on working with Hawke (who, if you hadn't guessed by now, we do not love). Still Hawke's usually at his best in Niccol's films (I really liked their most recent collaboration the drone thriller Good Kill too -- here's my review from Tribeca) so just ignore everything I've typed so far -- I'll try to lay off in this instance. Except don't ignore the part about it being Niccol's birthday! That's why we're here. Happy birthday, Andy! Thanks for your first movie and your last movie and some of the stuff in between.

Ethan Hawke once said that Nicolas Cage was the Marlon Brando of our era? Ethan (the blowhard) actually believes he can discern great acting yet he couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. how does it go again? he's a deludanoid? lol

Aw, c'mon, leave Ethan alone, you guys. He was in Dead Poet's Society and lots of other good stuff and has made far less out-and-out crap than so many of his peers (compare his filmography with that of say, Ben Affleck). I say he's alright.

He was great in Boyhood, First Reformed, and Maudie. He's made a comeback during the last decade even if a lot of his work does fall off the radar. He is a pretty sexy guy and has beautiful eyes.
