Everything You Ever Need To Know About Life...

... you can learn from:

The Hunt (2012)

Theo: The world is full of evil
but if we hold on to each other,
it goes away.

A happy 46 to director Thomas Vinterberg today; I know the reception to The Hunt ended up being fairly mixed abroad after wowing at Cannes but I found it to be a deeply moving film, with a leading man performance from Mads Mikkelsen that was probably better than anything that got nominated for an Oscar that year.

Same goes for Vinterberg's latest movie, his adaptation of Far From the Madding Crowd with Carey Mulligan and Matthias Schoenaerts - I've seen the film dismissed in a few quarters but I adored every swooning moment of the film (here's my review). I was happy to see that it broke into the top ten of the box office this past weekend, which is pretty astonishing given it's in less than 300 theaters. Here's a bonus pic of Mr. Vinterberg from that Q&A I attended (and got my picture with Matthias at - never forget!) last month...
