The Applesauce Doesn't Fall Far From

.
Have you guys seen Summer of Blood yet? It's a Brooklyn vampire comedy that came out last year - I reviewed it at Tribeca then, where I was simultaneously amused and put off by it; it's been on Netflix for awhile now. Anyway its writer director and star Onur Tukel had a brand new movie playing at Tribeca this year; it's inexplicably called Applesauce (I do not recall an instance of "applesauce" anywhere in the story) and I just reviewed it at The Film Experience today. It's more of the same - funny and annoying - but I think I'm beginning to come around, with familiarity, to Tukel's schtick. I think he's winning me over.
