I reviewed The Survivalist, a great new Irish movie about a near-future dystopia, over at The Film Experience last night. It is playing at the Tribeca Film Festival right now, but I have no doubts it will get a good and proper release, because it is terrific and the reviews, mine included, have been all-around great. The picture up top isn't actually from The Survivalist but all I've been able to find is one picture online from the movie and I am tired of posting that picture; you can see it attached to my review at TFE.
But that is The Survivalist's star Martin McCann (it's him in The Pacific) and lemme tell you what - watching him I felt like I was watching the new Michael Fassbender. And not just for prurient reasons (...although Martin's certainly a show-er like Michael). But it does have to do with the physicality - the way he uses his body. It's sexy and masculine and confident. You cannot look away from him. He will hopefully be going places from here; I hope casting folks have him on their lists. I wanna see him in more things immediately.
