I Am Link

.
--- Skinny Chef - Even though I watch Chopped on a near-nightly basis the idea of movies about chefs almost always leave me indifferent (exception to that rule: Ratatouille, of course)... but one way to get me on-board is certainly floating today's surf-buddy Michael Fassbender for the lead. No idea who the real-life chef Marco Pierre White is but apparently he's one of those grade-A asshole types everybody loves seeing freaking out in a kitchen, and his auto-biography called The Devil in the Kitchen has been picked up by Ridley Scott for a movie adaptation, with Fassy's name in the mention. Course that's the Daily Mail saying that so pincha salt, there.

--- Tops For Two - Two filmmakers I like very much have released their end-of-the-year top ten lists and as their faves are as different as they are as directors -- here's John Waters' list, and here's Edgar Wright's. Not a single overlap among 'em. The only movie on John's list that I have seen (Cronenberg's Map to the Stars) I wasn't nuts about; meanwhile there are some real clunkers that Edgar picked. But hey to each their own.

--- Bet On Blonde - Our pal Nathaniel at The Film Experience posted a pair of interviews way up our alley in the past week - he chatted with The Babadook's director Jennifer Kent right here, and he chatted with our longtime love Laura Dern right here. Have y'all seen The Babadook yet? No excuses! As for Dern, I'm seeing Wild next week at MoMA, finally. (And in related blonde n' Babadook news, I haven't read this one yet but here's a chat with that movie's star Essie Davis at Fangoria.)

--- Infinite Roar - In the wake of the first goose-bump inducing trailer for the film, some images of the Jurassic World dinos have begun to grace the movie's website, DH has the links; there's also what's supposed to be a shot via Reddit of the big bad genetic mutant that Bryce Dallas Howard wouldn't shut up about, but it's not verified. They're playing that sucker close to their vests for now.

--- Hairy Scary - I hadn't heard anything about Jennifer's Body director Karyn Kusama making a new horror movie called The Invitation but I like the brief description of the plot that Twitch has (it has to do with distrusting the woman your ex-wife's become, in vague terms), and even more I like the pictures of the movie's star (and Tom Hardy doppelganger) Logan Marshall Green sporting a luxuiously thick beard.

--- Fassy's Lady - I skipped past most of this interview with today's NYFCC Best Actress winner Marion Cotillard because I haven't seen Two Days One Night yet and I was nervous something would get spoiled (I don't even know what it's about) but towards the end she talks about one of my favorite subjects - Michael Fassbender! - so I had to read that. She just worked with him on the new MacBeth movie from the director of Snowtown.

--- Rim This Rim That - I'm kind of past linking to Guillermo Del Toro talking about the status of his thirteen gazillion projects currently being juggled, but I will link to this brief update on Pacific Rim 2 because bait-n-switch hey look the first Pacific Rim is super duper cheap today on blu-ray at Amazon and you know you want this in HD:
