I Am Link

.
--- Shot Thru The Heart - I'm going to have to look up the Batman villain Deadshot now, since Jai Courtney's in talks to play him in the Suicide Squad movie that's all about a team of Batman villains on a suicide mission that we've been hearing about for awhile now (also in talks: Tom Hardy, presumably to play Bane again; Margot Robbie to play Harley Quinn; and - sigh - Jared Leto to play The Joker). I swear I have literally never heard of Deadshot before in my life. But Jai Courtney... he I have heard of.

--- Precious Pazuzu - Say what you will about his movies, Lee Daniels makes things you can't take your eyes off of. I am a fan for the most part, so hearing he's signing up to make a possession thriller next, called Demon House, well curl my toes. That said I'm a little sad this means his action-movie starring two men in love is not happening, at least for the time being - that link also mentions a Richard Pryor bio-pic on Daniels' table, and then there was that football movie too.

--- Lilt So Lovely - During my time off yesterday I watched Ben Whishaw in Lilting, a lovely little movie (Ben is so good in it too) about a mother and her son's boyfriend dealing with their grief after their boy-in-common dies. (Watch the trailer here.) Anyway The Film Experience just happened to have two worthwhile posts on the film this week - Andrew took on a monologue from it, and Jose got to speak with its director Hong Khaou.

--- The Wonder - The front-runner to direct Wonder Woman now is apparently Michelle MacLaren, who's won an Emmy for her work directing Breaking Bad. (She also directed some Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.) But one part at that link leaps out and smacks me a thousand times across the face:

"Warners had no comment. The studio has been meeting with numerous female directors — although not specifically for the Wonder Woman project. Last week, the studio met with Jennifer Kent, the director of the well-regarded female-centric horror film The Babadook."

Ohhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyy gooooooodddddddddd.
.
--- X The Romance - Y'all know how I feel about Michael Fassbender, and j'adore Jennifer Lawrence as well, but hearing that the next X-Men movie will center on the "romance" between Magneto and Mystique makes me kind of crazy in a not-good way - I really preferred the bitchy BFF relationship that Ian McKellen and Rebecca Romijn gave the characters in Singer's earlier movies; that kiss between them in First Class was a groaner. (Fassy & McAvoy have hotter chemistry, clearly.) But hey maybe it will get Michael Fassbender out of his clothes, so there's that.

--- Southern Hammer - I don't know about the true story of Nat Turner, a slave who led an apparently bloody rebellion in Virginia in 1831, and I'm not looking it up right this minute so if anybody wants to enlighten me in the comments that'd be grand, but Nate Parker (mmm Nate Parker) is making a movie about it and he's just hired Armie Hammer (mmm Armie Hammer) to play the son of his slave-owner. They will look very good on-screen opposite each other and I'll probably have to feel conflicted about my thoughts about that, is all I do know. (thanks Mac)

--- And Finally, since we started out the day with Charlie Hunnam's ass, we might as well try to make it the theme of the entire day (in hopes he just knocks on our door and really delivers) -- here's a video lovingly devoted to it from Conan O'Brien (thanks Mac):

Have to agree with you that a Magneto/Raven romance storyline is ridiculous. Clear bid to put the actors before the characters. Hopes for better film after DOFP sunk.
