This subject came up in the comments of today's Halloween-themed "Beauty vs Beast" at TFE - most of the time that we see Michael Myers on-screen while he's wearing the mask it is Nick Castle (left) doing the work. He was a film school friend of John Carpenter's who was hanging out on the set and got roped into it. On IMDb Nick is credited as "The Shape." But when Laurie rips off the mask at the end of the movie and we see Michael's injured face Carpenter & Co. wanted an actor so they hired Tony Moran (right) for that; he's credited as "Michael Myers" (You can read more specifics here; there were also a couple of other dudes who handled stunts in the costume at certain points.) Anyway...
