They're Really Lost in the Trees This Time

.
If you've been reading MNPP for awhile then you've probably heard me go on about my love for Ari Picker and his band Lost in the Trees; they're one of my faves. Or... they were? Terrible news from their Facebook page:

Dear Friends and Fans,

We've had an amazing seven years of touring and putting out records as Lost in the Trees. It’s been a wild ride of joyous and terrifying moments; amazing friendships and thrilling adventures. I feel privileged to have met so many wonderful people around the country and shared the music of Lost in the Trees with you all.

We have just announced a show at The Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, NC on December 12th. This will be our last show for the foreseeable future. I’m certain I’ll continue to write and release music, but at the moment it’s time for me to move away from touring for the time being. We’ll be playing songs from all our albums and inviting special guests to play with us. I hope you’ll join us in celebrating these wonderful seven years.

Thank you to all who’ve embraced our albums. They are forever yours. Knowing that some of you will break them out from time to time and enjoy them gives me such happiness.

love,

Ari + Lost in the Trees

Noooo!!! That's terrible, terrible. They just kept getting better and better - I haven't stopped listening to their last album Past Life for months now. Okay I kind of had an inkling something like this might happen; when they did their show here in New York this past July they mentioned not to miss it because they wouldn't be getting our way again in awhile... but I just thought they weren't planning to tour up this way. Not this horror! I'm glad I bought a t-shirt this past show. And, well, as the letter says Ari's still going to make music, beautiful music - I guess he's probably going solo. I'll miss the rest of the band though, co-vocalist Emma Nadeau especially. Siiiigh. Here, a video I took of happier times:
