Today's Fanboy Delusion

Today I'd rather be...

... paddling with Jean-Paul Belmondo.

I was on the receiving end of some happy movie learnin' today when I saw that a pair of Jean-Paul Belmondo flicks are playing New York's Film Forum next week - 1964's The Man From Rio and its sequel Up To His Ears were directed by Philippe de Broca (he also directed Alan Bates, mmm Alan Bates, in King of Hearts) and are apparently sorta Bond-spoofs, although Film Forum says they feel more like Indiana Jones movies. Just with Jean-Paul Belmondo.

Looking like he does.

Anybody seen either of these movies? Rio co-stars Françoise Dorléac, Catherine Deneuve's lovely sister who I've enjoyed previously in The Young Girls of Rochefort and Roman Polanski's Cul-de-sac. And the sequel Up To His Ears co-stars an actual Bond girl - Ursula Andress tried to steal the spotlight from Jean-Paul...

... she failed, of course. She gave it a good effort though.
But it does bring up the question...

.
.
In case you hadn't realized it before, it seems like Ursula had a pretty good few years there in the 60s. But back...

... to the topic at hand. Just as Ursula seems to be discovering a shirtless Jean-Paul for the taking in that picture, the very act of looking up these movies brought me upon several pictures of JP I had never seen before, which are after the jump...
